This summer, Schibel Teaching Farm’s summer camp program will be entering its sixth season of providing farm-based, nature education programs for youth. Our unique, state-certified childcare campus is located on a 6-acre homestead in the rural Tumalo area of Bend, Oregon. We are recognized by the Oregon Environmental Council as an Eco-Healthy Childcare facility and are currently the only Arbor Day Foundation Nature Explore Classroom in the state of Oregon. Our program is an initiative of the Children and Nature Network and we are dedicated to our mission of reconnecting children with nature and the wonders of the great outdoors.
Schibel Farm Camp Slide Show
Camp sessions take place on a working farm and are designed for children of different ages and abilities, from preschoolers through rising sixth-graders. Within each session, we will offer themed activities that are fun, stimulating, and appropriate for each child’s unique interests and level of development, regardless of their age. In addition to activities focused on a specific theme, every camp session includes gardening, contact with farm animals, cooking, crafts, games, and lots of outdoor activity. All campers also have the opportunity to see how a farm works and get their hands dirty by pitching in with age-appropriate farm chores.
Our camp groups and approximate ages are:
Sprouts: Ages 2-3
Polliwogs: Ages 4-5
Chipmunks: Ages 6-9
Hawks: Ages 10-12
